Manchester United have confirmed that England defender Harry Maguire has signed a new contract, keeping him at Old Trafford until June 2027, with the option for an additional year.
As reported by ESPN on Tuesday, the 33-year-old was due to become a free agent at the end of the season, but has agreed terms to extend his stay.
Maguire, who joined United from Leicester City in a reported £80 million transfer in 2019, has made 266 appearances for the club, scoring 17 goals.
He has been a key figure in United’s defense and has helped the team regain form under interim manager Michael Carrick. His performances since January earned him a recall to the England squad for the March internationals.
Speaking about the deal, Maguire said: “Representing Manchester United is the ultimate honour. I am delighted to extend my journey at this incredible club and continue to play in front of our special supporters. The ambition and potential of this squad is clear, and I am confident our best moments are still ahead.”
Manchester United’s director of football, Jason Wilcox, praised Maguire’s leadership and professionalism, saying he brings “invaluable experience” to the young and ambitious squad.
Maguire’s extension ensures that United retain one of their most experienced players as they aim to challenge for major trophies in the coming seasons.
